Prompt: The ending of summer and beginning of fall – World letter writing day // Letters to September – 01

I find myself here again on the verge of falling leaves. The official ending of summer is still weeks away but the feeling of seasons changing is upon us. Your appearance on the calendar will always signify the start of a new period to me, the end of summer drawing closer, a new schoolyear for others. Young ones grow up and leave old friends behind. Birthdays are celebrated, new memories made, road-trips discussed. Days are starting to get shorter eventhough we don’t notice it yet. Colors, patterns and items in shops are changing. Most of us reminiscing the beaches and adventures, others still in the middle of creating those memories, some already busy with everything else. Busy buying new outfits or decorations. Busy planning ahead for what the month might bring. Some even planning for the spooky season which isn’t even in sight. There is still so much of you left, you barely begun. So much to discover, so much to explore together, so many days to still enjoy the summer while it lasts. I want to stretch out those moments before the change is inevitable. To be with you a little bit longer before you leave again.

So I sit here at my desk, pen in hand with so much to tell you but not knowing what to write to you, my dear old friend – September.
